Here are the details for the March 28 Cleanup with Trailnet:
Confluence Trash Bash
Date: Saturday, March 28
Time: 8:00 AM 12:30 PM
Location: Old Chain of Rocks Bridge, 10950 Riverview Drive, St. Louis, MO 63137
Description: Help bring back the splendor of the river at this clean-up event. You can help by volunteering! Lend a hand by participating in the Trash Bash based at the Missouri entrance to the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. Missouri River Relief, one of the program partners, will take volunteers by boat to pre-determined sites along the Mississippi River to pick up trash and debris. We will also be working with Stream Teams at Watkins Creek, Maline Creek, Cold Water Creek and Creve Coeur Creek. Some of the trash collected will be recycled into art during the event by trash artists. Lunch will be provided to all volunteers from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.
Fees: FREE
Registration: 8:00 AM
I'm thinking anyone who wants to carpool should meet at NCS a little before 7am. Otherwise, we will meet you up there at about 8am for registration. It's likely there will be tons of people there, so registering early is easier...
The organizers are great about keeping us all together if we get there and sign in on time...they will have to assign volunteer leaders to us and make arrangements for appropriate transportation to the cleaning sites based on numbers.
NOTE: I am aware that there is a local invasive species removal going on in University City as well, so if it's easier to be there, that's fantastic as well...The Trailnet organizer called us and asked if we were going to be there way back in early fall, so I'm going to make the drive up north...
Let me know if you have any questions specifically about this cleanup. And if this is your first cleanup, I'd be glad to fill you in on what to expect.
Funny story from last year - one fellow found a set of car keys...HIS OWN that he'd lost the year before at the cleanup. NO KIDDING!
I look forward to finding a safe to go with our bag of jewels from last year...
Ben
